An Internet car salesman is tasked with getting online customers into the dealership for a test drive. Without the personal connection of a face-to-face interaction, this position can be even more challenging than selling cars in the store. Successful candidates are Internet savvy, strategic thinkers and organized professionals.
It’s essential that an Internet car salesman has advanced technology skills. He also must be very organized, having the ability to monitor all sales leads and maintain detailed customer files. He must have very strong sales skills, of course. The salesman must be enthusiastic about the vehicles he is selling and very knowledgeable of the product details. It’s essential that he’s an excellent communicator and a team player, who gets along with his fellow salesmen. He should adapt easily to change and be willing to go above and beyond his duties to make a sale.
The Internet car salesman is responsible for keeping the website updated with the dealership’s existing inventory and current prices. She manages customer leads, responding to all inquiries in a quick and timely manner. She answers customer questions on product inventory, helping people find the best car for their needs, and explaining the benefits of the vehicles. She drives Internet traffic into the dealership, making appointments for interested customers, and continuously following up throughout the buying process. She understands the needs of a diverse client base and is able to adapt her approach accordingly. She sets and meets sales goals, helping the dealership to remain profitable.
A successful Internet car salesman must be willing to work non-traditional hours to get the job done. Customers typically shop for cars online during night and weekend hours, so he will need to be available to respond to customer inquiries during these time periods. He may also be required to work holidays, as most people are not at work, and more likely to shop around online.
The minimum education for an Internet car salesman is a high school diploma or equivalent. We prefer candidates to have prior sales experience, but may be willing to hire promising contenders without any previous work in the field. Successful candidates are also required to have a valid driver’s license in Washington State and a safe driving record.
