Accessory Development Manager

Through its Sandy Corp Division, GP offers custom consulting, sales training and marketing services primarily to the automotive industry. 
GP/Sandy currently seeks a Accessory Development Manager (ADM) to be based out of the Dallas, Texas metro areas and cover a south central regional territory. 
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the regional Accessory Manager(RAM) as the local Subject Matter Expert for all accessory topics – LPOs, ACOs, ADIs, selling strategies, processes, best practices, Business Choice, etc.
     
  • Wholesale and Dealership Support 
    As directed by the RAM, support the sales and fixed ops Zone Teams, Regional Office personnel and Channel teams in attaining monthly accessory sales objectives 
  • Assist with individual dealership program implementation (point-of-sale strategy, Channel marketing event implementation, etc.) 
  • Provide support for implementing LMA and individual dealership retail / wholesale marketing activities 
  • Provide metrics and recommendations to the RAM for dealerships within each Zone that provide the highest opportunity for sales improvement, assist Zone Teams with implementing an accessories business plan focusing on these points 
  • Interface with Product Team Leaders and Trainers to support in-dealership training 
  • Support GM training for new vehicle launch activities and coordinate ADI support of these activities 
  • As requested, assist Zone Teams with individual dealership training activities for accessory products, selling processes, program implementation and marketing strategies 
  • Provide standardized and ad-hoc reporting as needed 
  • Travel as needed to support major initiatives, assist with wholesale and dealership meetings as appropriate to grow accessories sales 
  • Assist with resolving distribution concerns, ADI support and policy issues 
  • Complete special assignments as directed by the RAM
  • ADI Support
  • First point of contact for ADIs 
  • Schedule, contact and document assigned ADI meetings on regular basis and assist with daily operations 
  • Evaluate sales performance vs. objective/business plan, processes and personnel and identify opportunities for improvement 
  • Evaluate ADI sales processes and warehouse & distribution activities 
  • Provide the ADIs with consultative expertise and training focused on: 
  • Developing and implementing action plans to improve in identified opportunity areas, monitor and evaluate results 
  • Product features, benefits and competitive advantages for GM Accessories 
  • Helping the ADI sales team conquest new dealers and optimize their abilities to establish a “point of sale” accessories sales process during the vehicle sale 
  • Help the ADI develop the optimal mix of point-of-sale, pre-loading and solicitation in their retail selling process 
  • Create a strong relationship between dealers and ADI salespersons by training ADI salespersons to become valued, credible “experts” (versus vendors) to their dealer customers 
  • Develop and share best practices with other ADMs to share with ADIs, Dealer and Wholesale personnel 
  • Define and communicate to RAMs any significant accessory related issues or concerns that arise 
  • Be a resource for ADIs, as well as Dealer and Wholesale personnel, on all GM Accessory related programs, procedures and policies 
  • Support ADI, dealer and GM field and central office meetings as required 
  • Attend required training classes and take advantage of other opportunities to improve job related skills and knowledge 
  • Support special programs such as Business Choice and Channel incentive integration 
  • Support ADI audit assistance as requested by the RAM or Channel Support Group 
Required Skills
  • 10+ years experience with automotive dealership operations specifically retail vehicle sales and selling techniques. 
  • Automotive retail sales experience required. 
  • Ability to assess sales team performance and develop improvement plans. 
  • Ability to motivate, consult and train retail vehicle and accessories sales personnel on improving sales and establishing a formal retail selling processes. 
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others especially in a consultative and training mode. 
  • Results oriented, self motivated, and can work with minimal supervision. 
  • Ability to travel throughout the territory including overnight (75%). 
  • Bachelors Degree in Business or related degree, required. 
  • PC skills with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
