Required Education/Skills/Abilities

Summary

The role of a product specialist involves identifying and assisting customers with their purchasing requirements, delivering outstanding customer service, and fostering a memorable shopping experience. Product specialists are also accountable for facilitating smooth transactions that culminate in supreme customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure every customer experiences exceptional service by fostering a friendly environment, which includes greeting each customer, upholding high standards, and possessing thorough product knowledge, along with all other facets of customer service.
  • Be accountable for selling products, meeting volume, and achieving customer satisfaction standards as determined by the store.
  • Work with the sales manager to establish and achieve new and pre-owned sales quotas. Attain the profit margin objectives for sales.
  • Greet customers promptly with politeness and friendliness.
  • Adhere consistently to the defined sales process.
  • Make effective use of floor time to address customer needs and drive sales.
  • Identify customer requirements by asking questions and listening attentively.
  • Ensure customers are eligible based on their desires, needs, and purchasing capability.
  • Keep up-to-date with new products, features, accessories, etc., and understand their advantages for customers.
  • Implement a follow-up system for owners that promotes repeat and referral business, enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Stay informed about the terminology and technological advancements in the Motorcycle/Powersports industry.
  • Execute a pre-delivery inspection and a road test before the customer takes delivery.
  • Handle telephone transactions with courtesy and efficiency.
  • Move and arrange display products on the showroom and on the lot as directed by management.
  • Deal with customer complaints in a sensible manner by showing empathy and a pleasant attitude to show our commitment to excellent customer service and to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Know and understand the federal, state, and local laws, which govern retail powersport sales.
  • Attend pertinent training and stay current with sales department concerns and sales techniques.
  • Attend sales meetings.
  • Performs all duties in a safe manner, immediately reporting any accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions to management.
  • Shows when scheduled to work, on time, ready, and able to perform essential job functions. 
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Perform other tasks as directed.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This role is dynamic, involving operations throughout the dealership. It includes spending time outdoors, within the dealership’s premises, and at a desk. The position regularly involves the use of standard office equipment, including computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

  • Additionally, this job requires specific visual skills, such as the capacity for close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, along with depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This full-time position has varying days and hours to align with the sales department’s operational hours, which are Monday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Regular weekend work is required.

Travel

Travel is not often required for this position.  There may be occasional travel to pick up or deliver vehicles from other locations.
