Position Overview

The Controller position is responsible for the accounting operations of the dealership.  This includes monthly financial reports, maintaining accurate accounting records, putting internal controls in place to mitigate risk, and to ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. The candidate should have prior experience as a full-charge automotive controller. Come and join the team in beautiful Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure bank deposits are made and recorded daily (includes ACH, wire transfers, etc.)
  • Reconcile all bank accounts daily.
  • Revise/post monthly standard entries.
  • Prepare reports as requested by management company, general managers, and department managers.
  • Prepare tax reports on a timely basis (i.e. sales tax, lease tax, etc.)
  • Complete accurate & timely reporting of financial statements as required by the manufacturer and management company.
  • Ensure that all accounting schedules are reviewed, and account reconciliations are completed monthly (i.e., floorplan, bank, finance reserves, manufacturer statements, etc.)
  • Meet with the General Manager/Partner and the department managers weekly to review expenses, outstanding CIT’s, vehicle receivables, accounts receivables, rebate/incentives receivables, etc.
  • Assist General Manager/Partner and the department managers in preparing monthly and annual forecast.
  • Ensure that vehicle sales, purchases, service, and parts sales are processed daily and posted to accounting.
  • Review open repair orders and parts tickets to verify they are being closed in a timely manner.
  • Complete monthly new/used physical inventory and reconcile to the general ledger.
  • Ensure payroll is processed in a timely manner.

Experience Requirements

A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a full-charge i-store automotive controller, and CDK experience is a plus.
