Interstate Fleets Inc., through its Interstate Service Center in Colmar, PA, has an immediate opening for this Automotive Technician job, one of the more rewarding automotive technician jobs in Colmar, Pennsylvania. The schedule is Monday through Friday with no weekends. Day to day, the technician works on brake and hydraulic, exhaust, fuel ignition and electrical, suspension and alignment, and air conditioning systems, moving from inspection and diagnosis through repair and final quality check on a steady flow of vehicles.

In real hiring situations, the service manager looks for 2 years of experience as an automotive technician, including 2 years in automotive diagnostics, along with clean repair documentation and the ability to work independently in a high-volume shop. A Motor Vehicle Inspection License preferred is a real advantage, and ASE certification is a plus but not required, since paid training programs and employee discount help technicians keep building skills and stretch their paychecks further. The work

• Diagnose and repair to specification: brake and hydraulic, exhaust, primary and/or advanced fuel ignition and electrical, suspension and alignment, air conditioning, and computer systems
• Assist technician mechanics with technical activities
• Explain diagnoses and needed repairs in plain terms to non-mechanical people, including employees and customers, as required
• Keep learning new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions to keep pace with changing automotive technology
• Keep store management informed of mechanical repair problems as they come up
• Maintain an organized, neat, and safe work area

Experience

• 2 years of experience as an automotive technician (required), including 2 years in automotive diagnostics
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Driver’s license (required)
• English (required)
• Ability to commute to Colmar, PA 18915 (required)
• Strong automotive mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving, and repair experience (preferred)
• ASE certification (a plus but not required)
• Motor Vehicle Inspection License (preferred)
